Resources

Under this page you will find a library of useful information.

Our safety advice includes a discussion of the risks arising from poor fuel management, boiler testing and diagnostic diagrams for use when an engine is misbehaving.

Track and wheel standards are vital for reliable operation, especially in the garden where track alignments may be imperfect. Our standardspage includes drawings illustrating our traditional and fine-scale standards.

Some folk collect G1 models that remain pristine in display cases, but most of us want to see our engines run. The tracks page lists our portable tracks which appear at exhibitions and group running days. For exhibition managers wanting to book a G1 running track, we give the footprint of each portable track and a contact email address.

We also list model engineering and modelling clubs which have permanant tracks: usually you would need to join the club concerned to get access.

You can read about the history of Gauge One railway modelling and of our association here. The Gauge 2 pages document the mostly long-gone world of Gauge 2 model railways - our sister gauge.

We have a list of useful other sites here grouped by category. The forums and video channels,in particular, are well worth joining.

The features section includes descriptions and drawings of prototype rolling stock, advice on garden railway construction and some accounts of well regarded models.
